How I Fixed the CS2 Black Screen Issue: Simple Solutions That Worked

I had a CS2 black screen problem recently. Played a few matches and everything was fine, then I clicked something in the menu and I was staring at a black (or white) screen.

Theme music was playing, but I couldn't do anything else.

If you're having this issue, don't worry – I have some solutions that worked for me and others.

First, try restarting your PC. This fixed it for me temporarily, but it kept coming back. So I dug deeper and found some more permanent solutions.

The best fix I found was adding "-autoconfig" to the launch options.

To do this, go to your Steam Library, right-click on CS2, select Properties, and in the General tab, scroll down to the launch options. Type in "-autoconfig" and apply the changes.

This will reset all your settings so you might need to reconfigure them later. Once the issue is fixed you can remove this launch option.

If the black screen persists, you can try forcing the game to launch in windowed mode with your native resolution. Add these launch options: "-windowed -w 1920 -h 1080" (replace 1920 and 1080 with your screen resolution if different).

Try it out and see what works for you. Don't give up if the first one doesn't work – try the others.

I hope this helps! Enjoy CS2!
