CS2 Hit Reg: My Experience and Potential Fixes
As a CS player, I am well aware of the issue of hit registrations. Many people are experiencing this so I figured I’d share my thoughts on the CS2 hit reg situation and some potential solutions.
From my experience the hit reg in CS2 feels off compared to CS:GO. I’ve had shots just disappear into thin air even when I know I should have hit. This inconsistency is frustrating for us who have spent thousands of hours in CS:GO.
One of the main issues seems to be the new subtick system and how it interacts with lag compensation. While CS2’s hit reg is better on paper the subtick movement on 64 tick servers seems to cause more problems than it solves.
The game feels delayed and the visual feedback doesn’t always match up with what’s actually happening.
So what can we do about it? Here are a few potential solutions I found:
- Update your graphics drivers: Some players report that updating their Nvidia or AMD drivers has fixed hit reg issues.
- Be patient: Valve is probably aware of these problems and working on it. The game is still new so we can expect updates to address these.
- Adjust your playstyle: Not ideal but you might have to adapt to the game as it is. Focus on positioning and crosshair placement to minimize the hit reg issues.
- Check your connection: Make sure you have a stable internet connection to reduce any additional lag or packet loss.
Note that the issue seems more prevalent with third party anti cheat software like Faceit. If you’re experiencing severe issues you might want to stick to official servers for now.
CS2 is still new and these hit reg issues will probably be fixed in future updates. Until then be patient, keep practicing and don’t let this discourage you from playing.
While waiting for improvements, you might want to explore other aspects of CS2, like CSGO gambling, to keep things interesting.
