CS2 Overwatch: Everything You Need to Know
CS2 has the Overwatch feature back and I'm here to tell you all about it. This player driven anti-cheat feature works alongside VAC to keep our game cheat and griefer free.
Overwatch in CS2 lets trusted players review demos of suspected cheaters. We can then decide if they're guilty or not. It's a powerful tool that gives us a direct role in fair play.
To become an Overwatch investigator you need to be a "trusted partner". While Valve hasn't officially confirmed the requirements, they're likely similar to CS:GO:
- Play 300 hours
- Win 150 Competitive matches
- Reach Gold Nova 1 or higher
- Have a clean record with few reports
- No VAC bans
We know CS2 Overwatch will be a thing thanks to the data miner Gabe Follower that shared how Overwatch will work when it's live. You'll have to decide if the player you're watching is guilty or not guilty.
When reviewing cases we look for aim botting, griefing, speed hacking and wall hacking. It's not always easy to spot, especially with subtle cheats like soft-walling or aim-assist. That's why Valve might provide a tutorial on detecting aim assistance.
CS2 Overwatch is new and no one has access to it yet. But it's a big step in fighting cheaters in our community.
VAC is also getting smarter and will automatically detect suspicious behavior and give cooldowns.
Remember, Overwatch is just one part of the anti-cheat in CS2. It works best when we all participate and make good decisions.
By working together we can make Counter-Strike 2 a fairer and more fun game for everyone.
While we wait for Overwatch to go live, why not check out some CSGO gambling to pass the time?
