How to 1v1 in CS2: Step-by-step tutorial (2024)

CS2 (also known as Counter-Strike 2) is the latest iteration of the popular tactical first-person shooter game. CS2 features updated graphics, new maps, and improved gameplay mechanics.

To engage in a 1v1 match, players must follow a few simple steps involving the developer console and server creation.

I've been playing Counter-Strike for over a decade, and I'm excited to share my knowledge on how to set up a 1v1 match in CS2.

In this tutorial, I'll walk you through the process step-by-step, from enabling the developer console to inviting your friend to the server.

You'll be ready to showcase your skills in an intense 1v1 battle on your favorite map by the end.

How do you do 1v1 in CS2? 4 Steps tutorial

Want to test your skills in a 1v1 match on Counter-Strike 2? I've got you covered! Setting up an exciting head-to-head showdown in CS2 is a breeze.

Just follow these four simple steps, and you'll be fragging your buddies in no time.

Step 1: Enable CS2 developer console

To enable it, head to the game settings (you can do this from the main menu). Look for the "Enable Developer Console" option and set it to "Yes."

This will let you input console commands, change game modes, and tweak other settings.

Trust me, getting familiar with the c2 console is a game-changer.

Step 2: Select a map

While the game offers a variety of built-in 1v1 maps, I recommend exploring the workshop maps for even more options.

Head over to the Play menu, click Workshop Maps, and browse the selection. Look for maps specifically designed for 1v1 gameplay, as they often provide balanced and competitive environments.

Once you've found a map that catches your eye, click "Select Map" to load it up and prepare for an intense showdown!

Step 3: Create a private server

To set up a 1v1 server for your private match, head over to the Play tab in CS2.

Click "Create Local Server" to host my own game.

Enter the server IP you want, pick your favorite map, and hit Go. Boom, you've got your server to 1v1, your friends!

Step 4: Invite your friend to the server

I've set up my own 1v1 server, so it's time to invite my buddy for a private match.

I hit Esc, click "Invite Friends," and scroll through my list until I find him. A quick click on "Invite to game" sends the server IP.

Now we're ready to face off, just the two of us, on my custom server. No randos, no distractions - may the best fragger win!

Bonus Step: Change game server settings

To elevate your CS2 1v1 gaming experience, I recommend tweaking the game server settings. You can customize the game mode, enable or disable specific features, and more.

Simply navigate to Game Settings -> Server Settings. Tailor the settings to your preferences for an improved 1v1 experience in CS2.

Experiment with different configurations to find what works best for you and your opponent.

Alternative way to do 1v1 in CS2: Community servers

I've found another great way to 1v1 in CS2: community servers.

  1. Launch CSGO on your device.
  2. Click the "Play" button at the top.
  3. Navigate to the "Community Server Browser" tab.
  4. Type "1v1" or "duel" in the search box and hit enter.
  5. Browse the server list and pick one with a good ping and player count.
  6. Copy the server's IP address.
  7. Open the developer console (usually by pressing ~).
  8. Type "connect [server IP]" and press enter.

Why should you do 1v1 in CS2?

As an avid FPS enthusiast, I can confidently say that engaging in 1v1 matches in CS2 is an excellent way to sharpen your skills and take your gameplay to the next level.

In a 1v1 scenario, it's just you and your crosshair against your opponent.

This intense focus allows you to zero in on critical performance aspects, such as aim, movement, and game sense.

I've found that 1v1 matches provide the perfect environment for targeted practice. Without the distractions of team dynamics or complex strategies, you can concentrate solely on honing your individual abilities.

After each match, take the time to analyze your performance objectively. Identify areas where you excelled and pinpoint opportunities for improvement.

Not only are 1v1 matches incredibly beneficial for skill development, but they're also a blast! The adrenaline rush of going head-to-head with an equally skilled opponent is unmatched.

Embrace the challenge, and you'll have a great time while becoming a better player.

  3. Cascade (Prime): Single site layout eliminates unnecessary searching for opponents.
  4. aim_aim_aim: Simplicity is key, making it excellent for 1v1 matches.

How do you add and use worskhop maps?

If you're playing solo or with friends locally:

  1. Head over to the Steam workshop and find the maps you want to play.
  2. Subscribe to each map by clicking the green + button.
  3. Launch CS2 and click on Play.
  4. Select Workshop Maps.
  5. Choose the map you want to play and click the Go button at the bottom right.
  6. Select the game mode and click Go to play offline.

But what if you want to play with friends online? Here's where it gets a bit tricky (until Valve fixes this):

  1. Players can only connect to your CS2 server through a LAN network.
  2. Install Radmin or Hamachi (I prefer Radmin) and CREATE a network.
  3. Ask your friends to install the same app and JOIN your network.
  4. Take note of the IP address assigned to you.
  5. Load up your desired CS2 workshop map as mentioned above.
  6. Ask your friend to open their console with ~ and type "connect [your IP address]."

How do you invite non-friends in CS2?

How to invite non-friends to your CS2 lobby:

  1. Create a lobby in-game.
  2. Go to your Steam profile in any browser, including the Steam browser.
  3. Right-click the "Join Game" button and click "Copy link" from the menu.
  4. (Optional) Set the lobby to Private if you want to restrict who can join to those with the link.
  5. Share the link with anyone you want to invite.
  6. Note: Until Valve fixes this, players can only connect to your CS2 server from a LAN network. You can use tools like Radmin or Hamachi to create a network and have your friends join your network.

Then, load up your Counter Strike 2 workshop map and tell your friend to open their console with ~ and type connect <your IP address> (replacing <your IP address> with your actual IP, which acts like a router for the game).

Alternatively, you can:

  1. Use the 'Looking to Play' feature to find nearby players available to invite or create a new lobby.
  2. Use the 'Recent Teammates' tab or the matchmaking code for a private lobby.

Remember, these methods require the players to have a non-limited Steam account, which means you must spend $5 or more from your Steam account.

How do you do 1v1 in FACEIT?

To set up a 1v1 Hub on FACEIT, head to "Competitions" and click "+Join or Create." Customize your Hub's name, description, and join settings. Enable 1v1 mode and create a queue. Players can then join by clicking "Play."
