Why Does Flicking Feel So Weird in CS2? A Player's Perspective

As a long-time Counter-Strike player, I've been diving into CS2 and noticed something off about flicking. If you're wondering why flicking feels so weird in CS2, you're not alone.

Let's break it down.

First, the shooting mechanics have changed. In CS:GO, shots would land where your cursor was going to be. But in CS2, they land behind where the cursor was.

This subtle difference throws off our muscle memory, making flicks feel inconsistent.

The new tickless system might be part of the cause. It's supposed to improve responsiveness, but it's changed how the game processes our actions.

Some players report that large flicks feel particularly off, even when they're sure they've lined up the shot.

The recoil patterns have also been tweaked. Take the AK-47, for example. The first few shots rise slower than we're used to, but then it ramps up quickly. This new pattern messes with our spray control, especially when trying to adjust mid-flick.

There's also talk about some weird interpolation happening. Kills sometimes feel delayed, or you might get a kill when you're sure you were a few pixels off. It's subtle, but for experienced players, it's noticeable.

Interestingly, many players feel that tap shooting is now more effective than spraying. The horizontal recoil on rifles feels unpredictable, making spray control in flick situations even harder.

It's not all bad news, though. Some players report that holding angles feels more responsive and easier to hit shots.

It's just the flicking that feels off.

Remember, CS2 is still in beta. The developers are likely tweaking things based on player feedback. While it's frustrating now, there's hope that these issues will be ironed out before the full release.

In the meantime, we might need to adapt our playstyle.

Focus on positioning and crosshair placement to reduce the need for dramatic flicks. Practice tap shooting more than spraying.

And most importantly, keep providing feedback to the developers.

The weird feeling when flicking in CS2 is a combination of changes to shot registration, recoil patterns, and possibly the new tickless system.

It'll take time to adjust, but with practice and potential updates, we'll hopefully get back to those satisfying flick shots we all love.
